New term FAQ’s

We’re excited that, as things get back to normal, we can offer a more comprehensive timetable of classes from September 2021.

Here are some frequently asked questions to help you plan for next year.

1. When does the new term start and when can I enrol?
Our new term starts on Monday 6th September and you can go to www.napaclasses.co.uk from Tuesday 31st August at 8am and book classes for the new year.

2. I’m not sure which classes my child should be doing
Please come along to our Open Weekend on 4th and 5th September between 11 and 3 to meet the teachers and find out more about the most suitable classes for you or your child. There’s no need to book and we’d love to meet you.

3. Do I need to attend the enrolment weekend if I already know which classes I want to book?
No. If you know which classes you’d like to book, then you can just book them from 31st August at www.napaclasses.co.uk, although we would love to meet you at the enrolment weekend so do pop along if you can!

4. I’m already a NAPA student – do I have to re enrol?
As you already have an account at www.napaclasses.co.uk all you’ll need to do is choose your classes from the new timetable and book a place. You or your child won’t automatically be moved into the classes for the new academic year. You won’t be able to book any classes if you have an outstanding balance from the previous year on your account.

5. I’m new, can we try a class before we book?
Free taster sessions are available for all of our classes but not until three weeks into the term. This is to make sure that everyone who is already sure they want a place can have one before we open it up to free trials. If you’d like to book a free taster session from week commencing 27th September, please call us nearer the time on 01482 310690 and we’ll book you in.

6. I’ve never done anything like this before – am I welcome?
Yes, NAPA is for everyone regardless of experience. There are no auditions and no waiting lists.

7. Where’s Drama gone?
From the new term our drama classes will be called Acting. This is to better reflect the content of the courses and bring them in line with most other organisations.

8. Why is the timetable different?
The timetable for last year was altered due to Covid restrictions. The new timetable is back to how we normally do things.

9. I’ve never been before, do I have to pay for a term in advance? Is there an enrolment fee?
There is no fee for joining NAPA. There are no auditions to join NAPA. Once you’ve signed up for your classes you can pay weekly in person at NAPA, monthly or weekly online by card, or set up a Direct Debit. We’ve tried to make it as flexible as possible for parents. As long as your classes are all paid for by the end of term we’re happy!

10. Where can I find out more about joining NAPA including the timetable?
There’s loads of information, including timetables, term dates, our student handbook and much more here: https://www.northernacademy.org.uk/new-to-napa/ – Remember, there are no auditions to join NAPA and everyone is welcome – even if you’ve never set foot on a stage before.

11. Where are you and is there parking/bus routes?
We’re at the top of Anlaby Road next to the old Tower Nightclub. There’s a link to Google Maps here: https://napa.social/napamap Parking is limited near to NAPA. There is some on street parking opposite and a car park next door to the Tower with free 20 minute parking which is useful for picking up and dropping off. We’re next to the interchange, so good for all bus and rail routes.

12. Can parents stay and watch classes?
We don’t allow parents into classes. We do have a great café bar which serves the best toasties in Hull and has free Wi-Fi. You’re welcome to stay while your child takes part in their classes.

13. What should my child wear or bring with them?
To start with please just wear comfortable clothing that’s easy to move in. Dance students will then need to purchase the NAPA uniform which is available online here: https://nao.mydancestore.co.uk/ Please bring a drink in a clearly labelled drink bottle if you have one.

14. I still have questions – where can I go?
The best way is to email us: napa@northernacademy.org.uk and one of the team will get back to you asap.

We look forward to welcoming you back to NAPA in September.
